Service Application Engine™A scalable, collaborative-computing platform for cloud and web applications. |
|
The Service Application Engine™ is an application fabric; a type of distributed application server, that allows developers to host data and business services that engage in collaborative data processing. Service logic may be developed as arbitrary functions or classes, 'wrapped' in the application fabric and deployed using the service engine across commodity computers. The engine’s unique design allows for well-known social computing principles to be exploited by business services, data collections and client applications, thereby reducing the users learning curve and lowering the barrier to entry for application developers. Engine components and tasks communicate with each other by using discrete events sent over a content-aware peer communications network. The engine's communication fabric supports several protocols for structured data exchange and access to the engine’s data and application services.
The engine also provides distributed data storage facilities, called data spaces for structured and unstructured data management. Data spaces support popular data collection models such as Queue, HashMap or Table and may be accessed via SQL queries or the data collections API, allowing developers to treat data as objects when necessary and use a query language to establish relationships between data elements as needed. Data space collections may exist entirely in memory, be written to disk or use a hybrid approach based on application needs.
The StreamScape application platform allows CTOs, architects and developers to deliver scalable and cost effective solutions that:
